Scholastic Book Fair
The library will be hosting the annual Scholastic Book fair, beginning Monday, September 27 thru Wednesday September 29. It will be open during Open House.

Teachers may arrange a preview time for their classes starting Thursday, Sept. 23 in the afternoon, and Mrs. Short will again have wish lists for the students and letters home to parents.

Thank you for all of your support.

Words from the Superintendent
To the Patrons of the Touchet School District:

Greetings from your new Superintendent. With the start of school just a few days away, we wanted to give you an update on what is happening in the district.

There have been many challenges this past year, and some of them remain. The district financial condition is very tight, and will require monitoring and sound decisions that impact the budget. That is an area I have been working with intently since starting, and will continue to do during the year. The School Board and staff are committed to providing the best education we can for our students, but doing that in a fiscally responsible way.

There have been a number of decisions related to staffing and schedules that have been delayed in order to let us get the best picture of where we are financially, and then make those decisions based on that information. I apologize for the delay and uncertainty, but our circumstances require careful and informed decision-making.

We are excited about the new school year, and serving the students and patrons of the Touchet community. My position with the district is for one year only, and is half time. That can sometimes make it difficult to keep current with communications, but I will work to keep up.

I look forward to serving the Touchet School District, and meeting our families and students.

Words from the Principal
Greetings everyone! Here we are again, gearing up for a new school year. This has been a particularly fun and relaxing summer for the boys and I. We have been swimming, traveling, playing, etc. Hopefully all of you have had the same opportunity to relax and have some play time in the beautiful summer sun.
Here are a few items of interest for our students, parents, and community members:

  1. We have hired two new teachers. Sterling Bell will be joining us to teach High School Math. Mary Hansen will be teaching High School Spanish.

  2. We have been working hard to make sure to develop a new bell schedule, a new master schedule, and to make sure that the annual school calendar is accurate.

  3. Touchet School District certified staff had their staff day on August 30th so that we could cover all housekeeping items. The staff also received the same training on Bullying and Harassment in Schools that students received last spring in order to better assist students with these issues in the classroom.

  4. School officially starts on September 7th.

I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of students on September 7. The halls and office are really no fun in the summer without students here. Please do not hesitate to call with questions, comments, suggestions, or just to chat. Remember that we have Family Access for all students grades 6-12 and Student Access for students grades 9-12.
