Article from Walla Walla Union-Bulletin on the School Levy
The Touchet community is being asked to approve a three year Maintenance and Operations Levy, which will collect $676,546 in 2011, $684,355 in 2012, and $684,355 in 2013. The cost for the 2011 levy will be around $3.05 for the first year, $3.12 per $1,000 the second levy year, and the 2013 levy cost will be about $3.15 per $1,000.

In response to the state and local economy and recommendations from community members, the district has reduced the overall levy amount by nearly $20,000 per levy year. Although the levy proposals leave little room for strengthening the district’s cash reserves, the levy proposals should enable the district to meet its educational obligations without losing the fiscal footing it has worked to strengthen and maintain.

School is up and running
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Well, school is up and running. I hope that your child/children are excited about their new classrooms and the new friends they made last week.  As with all new starts to a school year, there will be a period of adjustment for you and your children to make organizing your morning and after school routines to fit in with what is happening at school.

Our box holder will be out later on this week and it will hold some insightful information that will alert you to the events that will be occurring throughout September and October.

During the next couple of weeks you can expect that school will be in full-swing with normal full-day school hours occurring. Regular bus and student sports activity schedules will be conducted during those days as well.

If normal school operation should change, the District will make sure parents are notified and an announcement will be made through the regular communication channels the district uses (notes home, newspaper articles, and its website) so you will have prior knowledge with which to make needed arrangements.
