Dozens of scholarships are available through the Washington
State Grange Foundation. Scholarship
amounts vary and range typically between $750-$1000.00. For more information

Students must be high school graduates, accepted to a college
or university, following a program that leads to a degree in education and certificate
in coaching, and manifest qualities of character, loyalty, citizenship, intellectual
capacity, leadership and self-reliance.

Applicants must be a current paid member of the Italian Heritage Association or the child of a member. Student must have at least a 2.5 GPA, two letters of recommendation and 200-400 word essay on “What Italian Heritage Means to Me.” Applications are available in Mrs. Perkins office.

Graduating high school seniors who will be entering college
in an agricultural field of study are eligible for one of three $1,000.00
scholarships. Completed application, two
letters of recommendation from teachers, coaches, activity leaders or
employers, completed 500-word essay and official transcript are required to
apply. Applications must be
postmarked by April 5, 2005.
This scholarship, in memory of John McGillis Jr. (a graduate of DeSales High School and Whitman College student), will award $1,600.00 per year for four years. Students will be chosen based on personal merit as demonstrated by the applicants high school record, SAT scores, and citizenship. Only applicants with an SAT score of 1,000 or more will be considered.
Applications must be postmarked by April 10, 2005.
Two scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to a graduating student athlete. Each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation; one from coach and one from a teacher who has the student in class. High school transcript and SAT scores must be included. Applicants may be either male or female, must have minimum GPA of 2.5 and must have been involved in at least one area of High School athletics: i.e., varsity athletes, cheerleaders, managers or trainers.
Scholarship applications must be received no later than April 15, 2005

Students must be graduating seniors from Benton, Franklin & Walla
Walla County, members of FFA or 4-H, ranked in the top third of the class (at
Touchet that is a rank of 7 or higher), planning to attend Washington State
University and major in Horticulture or Agriculture. The estimated amount of the scholarship this year is
$1,000.00. It is renewable for three
years. Application must be received
by April 29, 2005.
For graduating seniors accepted to a college or university pursing a program that leads to a degree or certification in medicine or dentistry. Students must demonstrate positive character, loyalty, citizenship, intellectual capacity, leadership, and self-reliance. Scholarships are awarded $250.00-$1,000.00 for tuition, fees, books and room and board. This is a non-renewable single year award.
Applications must be submitted by May 6, 2005.
State Farm supports service-learning (a teaching method that combines service to the community with classroom curriculum. It is a hands-on approach to mastering subject material while fostering civic responsibility) because they believe that strong communities begin with strong schools. Seniors who are completing a service based senior project may apply. They must receive a nomination from their teacher or mentor.
